6 PLACES TO FOCUS ON
Spring is in full swing, so a road trip or two may be in your near future. But before you head out to enjoy the warm weather with the windows down and your music blasting, take time to spruce up your vehicle in these six areas and get rid of the winter mess.
THE EXTERIOR
After a long winter, your car is surely in need of a good, thorough wash. Using a soft towel or sponge and a mild detergent, scrub well and be sure to get in all of the cracks and crevices. You may need to rinse and repeat to be sure all of the winter grime is removed from the vehicle.
UPHOLSTERY AND CARPETING
Car seats and floor mats are often forgotten during the cleaning phase, but they’re as important as the rest of the vehicle, especially if you were getting in and out of your car while wearing winter boots. If possible, utilize a carpet cleaner to really deep-clean any stains on seats, floor mats, and the carpet underneath. If you have leather seats, use a damp towel to wipe them down.
THE WINDOWS
Using a good glass cleaner, clean the interior and exterior of all of your windows, including your mirrors. If it’s been a while since you last cleaned your car, you may have some film or buildup, so be sure to be thorough!
THE CONSOLE
Wipe down your center consoles with a damp towel, but be sure you don’t get anything electrical wet in the process. Don’t forget the cup holders and dashboard — dust loves to collect there!
THE TRUNK
What have you tossed in your trunk lately that can be taken out? While you’re back there, check to make sure that your emergency and first aid kit have everything that you need and do a quick inspection of your spare tire.
UNDER YOUR HOOD
Take a peek under the hood of your car. Clean out any debris, dirt, or leaves that have gotten caught in the engine area. Make sure you are gentle! If there’s any debris stuck in between engine parts, take your car to a professional (like us!) so they can help you remove it without ruining your vehicle.
